The Finance Office plays an integral role in the success of the University ensuring responsible stewardship through financial performance and strategic procurement, with a view to financial sustainability and growth.
About the role
The Financial Data & Reporting Analyst operates under broad direction, supporting the Business Partnering, Financial Planning & Analysis and Commercial Finance teams through data analysis, reporting, and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver in‑depth analysis of financial data, including data mining and the presentation of critical insights through financial analysis reports and data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI) to support decision‑making by Finance and stakeholders.
- Support and contribute expert assistance to the automation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs, including analysis of monthly financial results and business performance.
- Provide specialist support for the PeopleSoft Financial System, including maintenance of the chart of accounts, implementation of system enhancements or new functionality (e.g. commitment accounting), and development of NVision reports.
- Partner with Faculties and Offices to support the development of budgets and forecasts as part of the broader University budget and forecasting processes.
- Maintain and enhance financial reports and Power BI dashboards across the Finance portfolio as directed by the Deputy Chief Financial Officer.
Qualifications, skills & experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification with a CA/CPA level qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated experience delivering financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and modelling within a complex organizational environment.
- Strong problem‑solving capability with a proven ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to improve financial processes, systems, and overall performance.
- High‑level accountancy, numeracy, and reconciliation skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial data.
- Advanced analytical and technical skills, including data mining, database creation and querying, dashboard development, and proficiency with BI tools such as Power BI, SQL concepts, and advanced Excel.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, analyze information, compile financial reports, and manage competing priorities effectively.
